Welcome W.T. Woodson High School Class Of 1977!
Give a yell...give a yell...give a great substantial yell! The 30th anniversary of our high school graduation is coming soon. Three decades have passed since we were wearing rugby shirts, making flowers at float parties, dancing at soc hops, working at Roy Rogers, playing or cheering in the Turkey Day football game, meeting at Fritzbe’s, learning to Identify-Predict-Decide-Execute with Bernie Thompson, and waiting in long lines to buy gas at the outrageous price of 55¢ per gallon. I Loved the ‘70s We deserve a party. We have seen the 1970s become as retro-chic as the 1950s were thirty years ago. Other generations envy us because we wore pastel tuxedo jackets and feathered hair to our senior prom. We can look back proudly at our alma mater, which has built on our legacy to achieve recognition as one of the outstanding high schools in the country. Most important, we made lasting friendships at W.T.W. that it’s time to renew. Reunion Schedule The W.T. Woodson class of ‘77 has planned a great program of activities for the 30th anniversary reunion on Homecoming weekend, October 19-20. Tickets for the football game are available at the gate, and tickets for the Saturday party will be available online through October 13 and at the door by cash purchase only. Otherwise no rsvp is necessary. Hope to see you there! Friday, October 19 4:00 Reception and Tour at WTW We'll meet at T-104, a portable directly in front of the school. Assistant principal Thomas Maher will take us around the building, which is in the midst of a massive renovation and expansion. Check out the video at www.fcps.edu/woodsonhs/renovation/renovationhome.htm 6:30 Pre-Game Hospitality Tent The Athletic Boosters will be hosting a hospitality tent from 6:30 until 7:15 for Woodson alumni from the classes of 1966 to 2001. The tent will be located inside the stadium near the scoreboard at the Frost end of the field. 7:30 Kick-off Homecoming game pits the mighty, mighty Cavaliers against Marshall Statesmen. Tickets are general seating. The class of ‘77 plans to establish an area on the Frost-scoreboard end of the field somewhere around the 35-yard line and about 2/3 of the way up the bleachers. 9:00 Post-Halftime Drinks The class has of ‘77 has space reserved beginning around 9:00 at Artie’s, which is what used to be Fritzbe’s. It’s at 3260 Old Lee Highway: from WTW, go down Pickett Road 1.5 miles to Old Pickett Road; turn left onto Old Pickett and go 0.3 miles; turn left onto Old Lee Highway, and you’re there. Saturday, October 20,b> 7:00-12:00 Reunion Party, Sheraton Premier Tysons Corner Open bar from 7:00 to 9:00; cash bar from 9:00 to 12:00; hors de oeuvres, dinner stations, and professional disc jockey featuring music from the soundtrack of your youth.
